ScarLip, a rapper from New York, returns with a new single, “Come Outside,” and its official music video.

This is the rapper’s first release since “Big Girls,” which came out in January. “Come Outside” is another step in the development of this artist, who has become another representative of New York City rap, proving once again that there’s nowhere like home.

While the expression “come outside” sounds rather inviting, in ScarLip’s hands it becomes something else. The former poet has already proven her versatility, from the vulnerable “Runaway Love Freestyle” to the self-empowering “Melanin.” Now she gives us another piece of her repertoire: honest, rough, and ready for confrontation.

In one couplet, she says she’d rather go to war than peace, turning Jay-Z’s famous “99 Problems” line to say she’d be okay with one more problem. This is an amazing track with slick, menacing production, an eerie piano melody, and rattling 808s. This is the perfect backdrop for her tenacious performance.

IG Visualz’s direction captures this energy in the music video. ScarLip is seen wandering around the streets of Harlem, accompanied by her friends and allies, who have her back just as she has theirs.

The video also references New York’s championship summer of 2026: one of the featured motorcyclists wears a New York Knicks helmet, while another crew member wears his Patrick Ewing jersey.

The song and video can be seen as ScarLip’s tribute to the summer gone by, as well as a warning to anyone who crosses her path.

ScarLip’s success began in 2025. That was when ScarLip released “Scarred B4 Fame,” her first official project with Epic Records. “Scarred B4 Fame” features Lil Wayne, Anthony Hamilton, and Skilla Baby.

This project demonstrates the variety of styles ScarLip can perform. For her, music is more than entertainment. In an ABC News interview with Juju Chang after releasing “Scarred B4 Fame,” she said music was her “therapy” when she was young.

Every word counts. “Come Outside” and its music video are now available for streaming.
