Multi-talented singer, songwriter, and actress Kate Voegele, known for her roles in One Tree Hill, comes up with Bad Taste. It is a powerful, autobiographical sneak peek of her upcoming album Age of Alchemy.
The song is about a person whose control over her disappeared, and Voegele is not ashamed to enjoy that feeling.
“I wrote ‘Bad Taste’ about the very specific kind of satisfaction that comes from realizing someone who once had power over you doesn’t anymore,” Voegele said. “It’s about getting to the other side of a particularly shitty situation, being genuinely happy, and knowing that your happiness most likely drives that person absolutely crazy.”
“There are a lot of things in this song that you’re probably not supposed to say out loud, which is exactly why it was so much fun to write,” she said. “It’s petty, unapologetic, and probably one of the most fun songs on the album.”
Age of Alchemy is written entirely by Voegele. This record goes back to the power of her early days but also explores who she is as an artist.
This album is a new step in her journey, which started at the beginning of this year after Voegele completed an 83-show tour dedicated to the songs of One Tree Hill.
Kate Voegele has established herself as a storytelling performer with the uniquely personal style of her songwriting. She came into prominence with her debut Don’t Look Away and gained a global audience as a singer-songwriter on the TV series One Tree Hill.
She has released five studio albums since then and toured extensively throughout the United States and worldwide, constantly evolving as a writer and a performer.
This fall, she combines both worlds on her Then & Now Tour, which is an exclusive storytelling concert experience featuring the hits of One Tree Hill, her own favorites, and rarely played tracks from the past, along with the new songs from Age of Alchemy.
