Tyler Perry, the acclaimed filmmaker, is set to direct the upcoming police brutality drama “Black, White & Blue,” which will be released by Amazon Studios this November.
The film marks Perry’s first project under the four-film deal with Amazon, which was announced last November.
Perry will write and produce the film in addition to directing it. Kat Graham, Tyler Lepley, Meagan Tandy, Josh Adeyeye, RonReaco Lee, Jimi Stanton, Shannon LaNier, and Nick Barrotta are among the cast members.
Aside from Tyler Perry’s involvement as director, writer, and producer, the film will also be produced by Angi Bones and Will Areu from Tyler Perry Studios. Jamall Ellzy is also on board as a producer for “Black, White & Blue.”
What is “Black, White & Blue” About?
Fela Blackburn’s life takes a tragic turn when her husband, Rodney Blackburn, is killed by a police officer. Fela seeks help from her best friend, lawyer Marley Wells, and her husband, former cop turned private investigator Tony Wells. They work together to delve deeper into the incident. However, as they uncover the truth, Fela realizes that her entire world is built on lies and betrayal.
Is Tyler Perry’s Amazon Studios deal exclusive?
Tyler Perry’s collaboration with Amazon Studios does not limit his work to the streaming service.
Perry will be directing two other projects. “Six Triple Eight,” a World War II drama starring Kerry Washington and Oprah Winfrey, is one of them. The other is a Netflix thriller titled “Mea Culpa,” directed by Kelly Rowland.

Partnering with GLAAD, Kat Graham releases her new dance-pop album, LONG HOT SUMMER, out now. Global tour supporting the album starts tonight in Los Angeles, CA at the OUTLOUD Festival/WeHo Pride.
After experimenting with a variety of musical genres, from 2017’s disco-tinged Love Music Funk Magic to the experimental NFT album Toro Gato, Kat is going back to her roots with LONG HOT SUMMER. Her love-letter to the LGBTQ+ community, the 11-track album is full of bangers with sweeping pop synths over aggressive 80’s beats. Co-produced with Jean-Yves “Jeeve” Ducornet, Kat is ready to give the community that first embraced her a dance-pop album focusing on liberation, self-exploration, and acceptance.
The album features tracks produced by Kat herself, like GIRLS and VOODOO, incorporating beats she made when she was 15 years old. Drawing inspiration from Madonna, Joan Jett and her old friend Prince, the references can be heard throughout the album, from the electro OPRAH RICH to the 80’s tinged EVERYWHERE YOU GO.
As a member of GLAAD’s Atlanta chapter and a longtime supporter, Kat is headlining a world tour to help raise money for the organization. Dates below.
