The well-known tale of Ariel, a young mermaid who is lovely and spirited and has a thirst for adventure, can be found in “The Little Mermaid.” Ariel, the youngest and most rebellious of King Triton’s daughters, longs to learn more about the world above the sea and, while visiting the surface, falls in love with the handsome Prince Eric. Mermaids aren’t supposed to talk to humans, but Ariel has to do what she feels is right. She strikes a deal with the wicked sea witch Ursula that allows her to experience life on dry land but ultimately jeopardizes her life and her father’s throne.
