African American Owned Hair Company Celebrates BIG With its Own National Hair Day

The expression of beauty through hairstyles has been a long-standing signature of Black women. Most women of color use their hairstyles as a personal expression of who they are and to show the evolution of Black culture over time. This is an evolution which has brought more and more Black women to re-embrace the natural beauty of their hair. October 1st has been declared as National She’s Happy Hair Day by Houston’s Mayor Sylvester Turner. The veteran, black-owned Hair Company has been making a difference in black communities for over 7 years. CEO and Founder Warren Broadnax stated “it is more than an honor to have October 1st as She’s Happy Hair Day. It is an opportunity to help the Black culture understand the emotional significance hair has in our community and understand the effects. Every lady has her own hair journey and She’s Happy Hair is very proud to be a part of it”. Owners Warren Broadnax and Marcus Bowers built the She’s Happy Hair Empire from basically nothing. They both were raised in the inner-city and truly understood what it is like to struggle. Growing up in some of the poorest areas of Houston, TX they were faced with many adversities in their lives. In 2012 the Houston Natives decided to put all of the cash they had into starting a hair business; which totaled $900 and began selling hair from the trunk of their cars. From that investment the company is now the number 1 Virgin Hair Supplier in America and has grown into a multi-million dollar company; with locations across the United States and a very strong international online presence. After successfully setting up locations across the United States and growing into a household name; the company partnered with both Walmart and Macy’s this year. “The opportunity for two young black entrepreneurs to be in Macy’s and Walmart is huge and represents growth in the black community. It helps black entrepreneurs see that anything is possible with hard work and the right attitude”, says Owner and Founder Marcus Bowers. This is only the beginning. This fast-growing company will also be opening additional locations across the United States in the immediate future. Giving back to the community is very important for the She’s Happy Hair team; after doing community givebacks for the past six years they launched the She’s Happy Foundation. Always having a sense of social responsibility, She’s Happy Hair has nationwide community givebacks in every city that operates a She’s Happy Hair location. These givebacks include transforming their locations into barbershops just in time for back to school, free backpacks filled with school supplies, Christmas pictures and toys from Chocolate Santa, as well as, free community makeovers, adopt a family program every month for families in need, and so much more. In celebration of She’s Happy Hair Day, the company will be launching a brand-new website, offering customer financing, and giving customers an opportunity to text the word “HAPPY” to 888-111 for a chance to win FREE HAIR for a year. About She’s Happy Hair – ShesHappyHair.com is a phenomenally successful, veteran, black-owned business that recognized a void in the community. Seizing the opportunity to provide great customer service, products and a sense of social responsibility. She’s Happy Hair is the #1 virgin hair supplier in America; with an online store that ships worldwide, this international brand has a five-star product line.
