Actor Allu Arjun has been taken into custody after an unexpected visit to a screening of his movie Pushpa 2 caused a stampede, which resulted in the unfortunate death of one woman. The incident had happened last week and erupted into outrage and legal deliberations. Police have charged not just the actor but also the security team and the management of the theater on grounds of gross negligence.
Following the lawsuit, Arjun’s counsel has moved a lunch motion plea to keep his arrest pending till Monday. The reasons behind this are not disclosed, but it does underline the gravity of the charges against him. The actor has been booked under Sections 105, 118(1), and 3/5 of the BNS Act, serious legal provisions that might result in a prison sentence of 5 to 10 years if proved guilty. Among these, Section 105 is non-bailable, adding further complications to his legal battle.
The court has scheduled a hearing at 2 PM today to decide on the actor’s plea. The case has been attracting massive attention from the public and media, with some fans coming out in full support of the star while others demand accountability. The results of the hearing will, no doubt, have huge implications for Arjun’s career and the industry at large.
