Apple TV+ has officially confirmed the return of its hit series “Bad Sisters” with an eagerly awaited second season premiering on November 13, 2024. The announcement comes with a tantalizing first look at the new season, showcasing the much-anticipated reunion of the Garvey sisters and a host of new faces joining the ensemble.
The second season of “Bad Sisters,” a dark comedy-drama that has captivated audiences with its blend of suspense and humor, will see the return of the original cast: Sharon Horgan as Eva Garvey, Anne-Marie Duff as Grace Garvey, Eva Birthistle as Ursula Garvey, Sarah Greene as Bibi Garvey, and Eve Hewson as Becka Garvey. The series picks up two years after the supposedly accidental death of Grace’s abusive husband. Although the Garvey sisters have seemingly moved on from that traumatic event, the resurfacing of past truths threatens to unravel their lives once again. As suspicions mount and secrets come to light, the sisters must navigate trust and deception within their tight-knit group.
In addition to the returning stars, the new season introduces a stellar lineup of actors including Fiona Shaw, Owen McDonnell, Thaddea Graham, Barry Ward, and Peter Claffey. Their addition promises to enrich the already dynamic cast with fresh intrigue and depth.
Season two of “Bad Sisters” will debut globally with two episodes on November 13, followed by weekly releases every Wednesday through December 25, culminating in the eighth episode of the season. The show has already garnered significant acclaim for its unique narrative and strong performances. The first season was a standout hit, earning a BAFTA Television Award for Best Drama Series and a Best Supporting Actress win for Anne-Marie Duff. It also received a Peabody Award and multiple Emmy Award nominations, including nods for Sharon Horgan and the show’s casting, writing, and directing. The series was praised as “one of the year’s best shows” and lauded for its “wickedly funny, genuinely poignant” storytelling.
“Bad Sisters” is the brainchild of Sharon Horgan, Faye Dorn, and Clelia Mountford, who executive produce the series through their company, Merman. Dearbhla Walsh joins as an executive producer and director. Bert Hamelnick, Michael Sagol, Dave Finkel, and Brett Baer also serve as executive producers, with Finkel and Baer adapting the series from the Belgian original, “Clan,” created by Malin-Sarah Gozin. The show is produced by Merman Television and ABC Signature, part of Disney Television Studios.
