Ariana Grande Dethrones Travis Scott on the Billboard Hot 200 Album Charts

Ariana Grande “Sweetner” debuts at number one the billboard charts. According to Billboard, she sold over 231,000 copies of her album. 127,000 of those album sales came from traditional album sales. This is her 4th full-length studio album. It’s her third number one album. Her third album Dangerous Woman, debuted at number 2 in 2016. She was a victim of Drake monstrous album Views, which was in it’s fourth of fourteen nonconsecutive weeks at number one.

This album is the second largest week for an album by a woman in 2018. The Queen of Rap right now, Cardi B Invasion of Privacy sold over 255,000 copies it’s first week. Ariana Grande has the largest streaming week ever for a pop album by a woman. The album raked in over 126.7 million on-demand audio streams in it’s debut. According to Billboard, only four albums that weren’t raps albums streamed over 125 Million times in a single week. Ed Sheeran Divide streamed over 134 million times in a week. The other two were by The Weeknd. My Dear Melancholy streamed over 140 million times and Starboy streamed over 175 million times.

Travis Scott drops to number two on the Billboard charts this week. Selling over 110,000 copies. Nicki Minaj drops to number three this week. Selling over 95,000 copies of her Queen album.

Sweetener is one of the rare pop albums that performed great on streaming services. Usually only rap albums post big streaming numbers in comparison to other genres. Ariana also has two songs (No Tears Left to Cry and God is a Woman) in the Billboard top ten.
