A shooting involving multiple scenes in Northern California has left at least five people dead, including the shooter.
The Tehama County Sheriff’s Office says the incident started at a home and moved to an elementary school in Rancho Tehama around 8:00 am, local time. Rancho Tehama is about 130 miles north of Sacramento.

Law enforcement says the shooter, who has not been identified, was shot and killed by police.

A Corning Unified School district employee confirmed there were injuries at the school.

“Multiple students” were airlifted from the scene according to Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston. Johnston told local media that “multiple shots were fired” and at least four people are dead, not including the shooter.

Johnston says the guns used by the shooter have been recovered by police, including a semi-automatic rifle and two handguns.

Three people were taken by ambulance and a fourth was airlifted to Enloe Medical Center in Chico, hospital officials said. Three of them were children and one was an adult.

One student was wounded at the school and another child was shot while driving with a woman, who also was wounded, Johnston said.

β€œIt was very clear at the onset that we had an individual that was randomly picking targets,” Johnston said.

He declined to release the name of the shooter but said the gunfire began with a domestic violence incident that neighbors reported.

A 6-year-old and another child are among the injured. The Redding Record Searchlightreports a 30-year-old man has also been taken to the hospital with gunshot wound to the thigh.

Police are investigating at least seven crime scenes. At least 100 law enforcement officers have responded to the crime scenes. The children inside the school have been moved to a safe location.

When is it the appropriate time to start talking about gun control laws it seems like everyday in America there is a shooting. We have innocent children and people dying for no reason.
