BEN AFFLECK AND JENNIFER LOPEZ LOOK STUNNING AT THE WORLD PREMIERE OF “THE LAST DUEL” AT THE VENICE FILM FESTIVAL

The World Premiere of 20th Century Studios’ “The Last Duel” took place earlier this evening at the 78th annual Venice International Film Festival. Stars Matt Damon, Jodie Comer and Ben Affleck joined director/producer Ridley Scott and co-screenwriter/producer Nicole Holofcener on the red carpet of the renowned Lido. The cinematic and thought-provoking drama is set to release in theaters October 15, 2021.

Prior to the screening at the Sala Grande (Palazzo del Cinema), Ridley Scott was honored for his contributions to the film industry with the festival’s Cartier Glory to the Filmmaker Award. Additional filmmakers in attendance include producers Kevin J. Walsh and Jennifer Fox and executive producer Drew Vinton.

A historical epic, “The Last Duel” is a gripping tale of betrayal and vengeance set against the brutality of 14th century France. The film, which opens in theaters nationwide this October, is a cinematic and thought-provoking drama set in the midst of the Hundred Years War that explores the ubiquitous power of men, the frailty of justice and the strength and courage of one woman willing to stand alone in the service of truth. Based on actual events, the film unravels long-held assumptions about France’s last sanctioned duel between Jean de Carrouges and Jacques Le Gris, two friends turned bitter rivals.

Oscar® winner Matt Damon (“Good Will Hunting,” “Ford v Ferrari”) stars as Jean de Carrouges, two-time Academy Award® nominee Adam Driver (“Marriage Story,” “BlacKkKlansman”) is Jacques Le Gris, Emmy® winner Jodie Comer (“Killing Eve,” “Free Guy”) is Marguerite de Carrouges and two-time Oscar winner Ben Affleck (“Argo,” “Good Will Hunting”) is Count Pierre d’Alencon. The film is directed by four-time Academy Award® nominee (“The Martian,” “Black Hawk Down,” “Gladiator,” “Thelma & Louise”) Ridley Scott, with a screenplay by Oscar® nominee Nicole Holofcener (“Can You Ever Forgive Me?”) & Ben Affleck & Matt Damon based on the book by Eric Jager.
