Born Marcel Theo Hall, Biz Markie was a pioneering figure in the 1980’s New York City rap scene whose career went on to span almost three decades. He is widely known for the 1989 platinum hit single “Just a Friend” which reached number 9 on the Billboard charts and affectionately earned him the nickname the “Clown Prince of Hip-Hop”.
