Brazilian Mother Dies In Front Of Her Son After Eating 'Poisoned' Chocolates Sent To Her For Birthday -

A Brazilian mother died after eating chocolate that appeared to have been sent by a mysterious person on her birthday, raising concerns among her family that she had been poisoned, according to the Daily Mail.

Rio de Janeiro police launched an investigation into the untimely death of Lindaci Viegas Batista de Carvalho, 54.

The police are investigating whether the chocolates she received on Saturday, along with a bouquet, were poisoned.

Lenice Batista claimed that rat poison was discovered in the victim’s body after the death of her beloved sister, according to an expert from the Instituto Medico-Legal, a forensic organization in Brazil.

According to her family, Lindaci Viegas Batista de Carvalho got threatened on social media in the days leading up to her death.

The chocolates are getting analyzed, and the family should receive more results in 30 days. There have yet to be any arrests.

According to the Daily Star, the 54-year-old received a call last Saturday informing her about a delivery.

This unexpected gift piqued the mother’s interest, and she requested that the package be left at her boyfriend’s store rather than delivered directly to her.

Ms. Carvalho took the chocolate to a beauty salon after receiving it, but she refused to eat it until she found out who had sent it to her.

Her ex-husband, with whom she had a good relationship, claimed to have sent her the gifts, so the mother felt comfortable enough to eat some of them.

Her sister recalled Ms. Carvalho becoming ill shortly afterward. Ms. Batista described her eyes rolling back in her head and her arms convulsing. Ms. Carvalho’s son had also tried the chocolate but had spat it out due to the strange taste and was not ill. When the mother arrived at a hospital in Rio de Janeiro, she was pronounced dead.

Following her death, Ms. Carvalho’s ex-husband claimed he was joking when he said he sent the gift. Ms. Batista stated that despite their positive relationship, she does not consider him a suspect.
