Candice Patton Talks Portraying Iris West on The Flash, Racism, and Her Fans

We caught up with The Flash Star Candice Patton, to talk overcoming adversity in her role as Iris West, and Championing Women to speak up against injustice.

Candice, has never shied away from speaking up for what is right, The Flash Star has always been vocal about the issues that affect Black women in Hollywood.

Upon being casted as Iris West in The Flash, Candice faced unwarranted hatred for being a Black woman in the CW Hit, Iris West was portrayed as a white woman in the DC comic version of The Flash. Candice spoke about how she dealt with the backlash early on and how she has used the hate to educate people on the injustices Black men and women ate subjected to in the industry.

With the recent spotlight on Hollywood and their efforts to rectify the wrongs that have longed affected Black and Brown people in the industry, Candice plans to hold them accountable to their promises.

She plans to continue to advocate for the voiceless and even encourages others to use their voice to speak up against systemic racism in or outside of the workplace.
