In October, South Carolina signed Dawn Staley to a 7-year, $22.4 million contract extension — one of the highest-paid coaches in women’s basketball.

Last night, the Gamecocks’ investment in Staley pays off… again.

Dawn Staley became the first Black coach in men’s or women’s DI basketball history to win multiple national championships after South Carolina’s 64-49 win over UCONN.

Staley was named Naismith Coach of the Year last week. After winning the award in 2020, she became the first person to win both the Naismith coach and player of the year awards.
