Demetrius Stanley: 31-Year-Old Black Man Dies After Undercover San Jose Cops Didn’t Identify Themselves Before Fatal Shooting

Demetrius “Meech” Stanley was in his room with his girlfriend when plain clothes officers in an unmarked car paid his residence a visit and stalked him at his own home. He went outside, to confront strangers that he felt were stalking. Demetrius was armed to defend his home and loved ones from potential danger.

As the undercover plain-clothes officer sprinted down the street away from the house, Demetrius followed calmly and slowly before approaching a white unmarked van with out-of-state plates that did not in any way signify law enforcement presence. When he approached the unmarked van, the door swings open and the footage ends.

After that horrific tragedy occurred, his family was put in handcuffs while the house was searched high & low. A warrant wasn’t presented until hours after the fact and wasn’t properly served to the family because they sat in handcuffs.

His death has sparked ripples of pain through out the community in San Jose @black.outreach.sj describes as he mentions the dozens of texts from people reaching out and uplifting his name.

Hundreds of people marched from San Jose City Hall to San Jose PD via I-87 Guadalupe Parkway.

At San Jose PD, speeches were held by his uncle, nieces, friends, and many loved ones via encouraging shouts back from the crowd. The protest took the city streets back to City Hall, with music playing and some brief dancing.
