Disney+ has released an intriguing teaser for “Descendants: The Rise of Red,” paving the way for another thrilling chapter in the renowned “Descendants” saga. The music-driven Disney Original movie, set to premiere on Friday, July 12, exclusively on Disney+, aims to capture spectators with its charming story. On Friday, August 9, at 8:00 p.m. EDT/PDT, the Disney Channel will air a special encore presentation.
The most recent teaser features Kylie Cantrall as Red, the rebellious princess of Wonderland, and the newest Villain Kid (VK) in Auradon. Caught “red-handed” by Malia Baker’s character Chloe, Cinderella, and King Charming’s daughter, the stage is set for a battle of personalities and a voyage that transcends time.
“Descendants: The Rise of Red” follows Red and Chloe as they cross the perilous waters of Auradon, confronting the totalitarian Queen of Hearts and beginning a mission to change history itself. With themes of friendship, atonement, and the power of choice, the film promises to be a thrilling story that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
Brandy stars as Cinderella, Rita Ora is the Queen of Hearts, and China Anne McClain returns as Uma in the ensemble cast. With a soundtrack that includes seven original songs and a cover of “So This Is Love” from Disney’s classic “Cinderella,” the film is sure to captivate moviegoers with its musical prowess.
The “Descendants” franchise has proven to be a child entertainment powerhouse, with each premiere telecast ranking as the year’s most-watched cable movie among Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14. The franchise’s music has received 15 billion audio and video streams and 8 billion TikTok views, cementing its place as a cultural phenomenon.

Suzanne Todd and Gary Marsh are executive producers of “Descendants: The Rise of Red,” which is directed by Jennifer Phang and written by Dan Frey and Russell Sommer.
