The Los Angeles Dodgers won their eighth World Series championship in franchise history tonight at Yankee Stadium, narrowly defeating the New York Yankees 7-6 in a dramatic Game 5 finish. This victory marks the Dodgers’ seventh championship since relocating to Los Angeles and their first five-game Series win since 1988.

The Dodgers will begin their championship celebrations next Friday, Nov. 1, starting with a parade in Downtown Los Angeles and concluding with a ticketed celebration at Dodger Stadium. Spectrum SportsNet LA, local television stations, and AM 570 will broadcast both events live so the entire Southern California region can join in on the celebration. Due to logistical reasons, fans must attend either the parade or the Dodger Stadium celebration.

Freeman’s Historic Performance Earns MVP Honors

Dodger first baseman Freddie Freeman was unanimously named World Series MVP, putting a cap on his tremendous Series performance. Freeman hit .300, 6-for-20, with four home runs, including the walk-off grand slam in the 10th inning of Game 1 that set the tone for Los Angeles’s triumphant Series. Freeman also tied a record by homering in six straight World Series games going back to 2021. That made him the first player ever to homer in each of the first four games of a Series. In tonight’s Game 5, Freeman went 1-for-4 and scored a run. He had a huge two-run single in the rally fifth inning that tallied five runs and gave the Dodgers their first lead.

The Dodgers came through with a 3-2 win over the San Diego Padres in the National League Division Series before taking down the New York Mets in the NLCS, 4-2. They completed their run through the Postseason at 11-5, topping the Yankees in five games to capture the title.

Parade and Stadium Celebration Details

The championship parade will begin at 11 a.m. at Gloria Molina Grand Park on Spring Street in front of City Hall. It will be led off by Mayor Karen Bass. It will proceed in a 45-minute route down 1st Street to Grand Avenue and end at the intersection of 5th and Flower Street. Fans who plan to attend are strongly encouraged to utilize public transportation as several roads will be closed, parking will be limited.

Admission is ticketed, and the Dodger Stadium celebration will begin at approximately 12:15 p.m. Parking gates will open at 8:30 a.m. with stadium doors opening at 9 a.m. Concession stands will be open and food and merchandise available for purchase. Live coverage of the parade will be available on DodgerVision. Stadium policies will be in full effect; this includes not being allowed to bring in signs, bags, and any prohibited items into the stadium.

Broadcast Information and Charitable Efforts

Complete television coverage of the celebration begins at 9:30 a.m. on SportsNet LA, and simulcasts on local channels CBS 2, NBC 4, KTLA 5, ABC 7, KCAL 9 and Fox 11. AM 570 will have live radio coverage throughout the day. Net proceeds from the Dodger Stadium celebration will benefit the Los Angeles Dodger Foundation, which focuses on programs and direct service in the areas of education, health care, homelessness and social justice throughout Los Angeles.

The Dodgers, their fans, the city of Los Angeles have come together in unity for this day to be filled with pride and joy after an unforgettable championship season.
