Doja Cat said she sent her estranged father a link that appeared to be a ticket purchase page after he said he would not be attending her recent show in Pretoria, South Africa.
In a TikTok video, the Grammy Award-winning artist said she had a tense yet funny conversation with her father, whom she called a “deadbeat,” about why he did not attend the show.
Doja Cat said her father said he would not be attending the show because they had not been talking.
“On a lighter note, I was messaging my father ’cause he’s here in Africa and he said that he couldn’t make it to my show because I don’t message him enough and I didn’t call him on WhatsApp,” Doja Cat said.
She said she sent him a link that would make it super easy for him to purchase a ticket to the show. However, the link actually had adult content.
“So I sent him g** p**n and said if you go to this link you can get a ticket super duper easy,” Doja Cat said.
She said her father responded by saying he would send the adult content to his team.
“He said, ‘Oh yes, I will send this to my management; my management will handle all of this. At the moment, I’m just very busy … doing costume and rehearsal, so I cannot do this myself,” she said. “Fair, fair, right?”
He continued to message throughout the day, insisting he was too busy to handle the ticket himself.
“He’s at work, right, and he keeps messaging me, saying, ‘I’m just very busy right now … I can’t get to the phone,'” she said.
Doja Cat said she grew frustrated with the link after he claimed he hadn’t seen it the first time.
“He said, ‘What is the website?’… so I sent it again,” she said.
She then described his reaction upon opening the link.
“He said, ‘Darling, what is this? What I’m seeing is g** pn. Ha ha. It’s like a p*o on my screen,'” she recalled. “And he said, ‘I don’t know if it’s a scam … I don’t know what to do with this. I can’t get the ticket.”

Doja Cat has previously spoken about her complicated relationship with her father, South African actor Dumisani Dlamini.
It remains unclear whether her father ultimately attended the Pretoria performance.
