Dua Lipa Destroys Daily Mail for Lying About Firing Her Agent: “The Story Was Completely False”

So the Daily Mail went with it. They published an entire article alleging that Dua “dumped” her rep, David Levy, because of his political beliefs, namely signing a petition to get Irish rap group Kneecap off of Glastonbury. There was a leak of an email, a mess involved, and tabloids caught a whiff of blood. But Dua? According to her, none of this was even close to correct.

Dua’s Insta Clapback Came Out Super Savage

Dua turned her Instagram story all the way up with Mail:

“Not only was the story completely false but the language used by the Daily Mail has been deliberately inflammatory, crafted purely for clickbait, clearly designed to fuel online division. It is always Free Palestine but exploiting a global tragedy in order to sell newspapers is something I find deeply troubling.”

She essentially said: refrain from utilizing world tragedies as clickbait, you sloppy trolls.

Plot Twist: Levy has Not Been her Manager since 2019

Here’s the kicker. Levy has not managed Dua’s career for YEARS. WME has confirmed that he moved back from London back in 2019 and stepped down from being active. He only still held an advisory role since then and actually resigned this year. Even a spokesperson confirmed the whole “fired” part as flat-out incorrect. So yeah, the Mail just outright fabricated this “dramatic split.”

Dua Lipa, Activist AND Pop Superstar

Shall we forget why the tabloids went there at all? Dua’s activism. She’s one of the world’s few major stars to publicly express solidarity with Palestine and yet criticize Hamas. She’s used her Instagram platform of 88 million fans to discuss Gaza, criticize governments, and stand her ground with the refrain: Free Palestine. And that cocktail makes her a perfect candidate for spin.

When Music, Politics, and Messy PR Are Mixed

The protest doesn’t end with Dua. Massive Attack also dropped Levy in response to the letter protest. And Kneecap? Despite the outcry, they still performed at Glastonbury, showing the letter could not gain the desired reaction from the recipients.

Why Does Dua’s Drag of the Daily Mail Hit Different

Dua didn’t only clear a name, she called out an entire news cycle that survives off of conflict and strife. Calling out one of the largest tabloids of the UK proved she’s not only managing her own branding, she’s managing the narrative. That’s chief pop girl behavior.
