Ellen Pompeo Goes Into Depth About Her Fight With Denzel Washington On The ‘Grey’s Anatomy ‘ Set

Ellen Pompeo had a heated argument with Denzel Washington on the set of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ when Washington directed a season 12 episode:

“He was like, ‘I’m the director. Don’t you tell him what to do.’ I said, ‘Listen, motherf‑‑‑er, this is my show. This is my set. Who are you telling? You barely know where the bathroom is.’”

Pompeo later followed it up by praising Denzel Washington and a conversation she had with his wife when she arrived onto the set.

“I have the utmost respect for him as an actor, as a director, as everything, but like, yo, we went at it one day. And then his wife came to set to visit, and I was not talking to him. I was mad at him. And I told his wife, I was like, ‘Yeah, he yelled at me today. He let me have it today, and I’m not OK with him, and I’m not looking at him, and I’m not talking to him.'”

She spoke on her feud with Denzel Washington on one of her first episode of her new “Tell Me” podcast while she had her co-star Patrick Dempsey on as a guest.
