Family members of 13-year-old Adam Toledo ask police to release body cam footage after an officer shot and killed Toledo in Chicago

Chicago police shot and killed a 13-year-old boy earlier this week after what police are calling an “armed confrontation.” The police said they recovered a gun at the scene, however, Toledo’s family members say they are not aware he had a gun and are asking for body cam footage from the incident to be released.

Following pressure from Chicago’s mayor, the police superintendent and members of the community, Chicago’s Office of Police Accountability (COPA) said it will release the footage no later than 60 days after the incident. The officer involved has been placed on administrative duty.
