According to a new report by BuzzFeed News, a former graduate student at the University of California alleges that doctor Dennis Kelly gave him two invasive and inappropriate rectal exams in the 1990s. Kelly is accused of sexual abuse by 48 other patients at the University of Southern California.
This is the first known sexual allegation against Kelly from his work at UCLA. Kelly left the university in 2002 with a confidential settlement that included a $68,320 payment. UCLA said it was “unrelated to allegations of sexual misconduct.”
Kelly was hired at USC a month after signing the settlement. Between then and August 2018, when he left the school, 48 patients allege he subjected them to invasive exams and made sexual remarks.
