Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba’s Bad Boy’s Spin-off Show LA’s Finest is Canceled

LA’s Finest doesn’t appear to have been a fine performer for Spectrum Originals. The police drama has been canceled by the budding streaming service after two seasons, running for twenty-six episodes in total.

The show starred Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba. The spinoff of the “Bad Boys” film series, “L.A.’s Finest” featured Gabrielle Union reprising her role as Syd Burnett from 2003’s “Bad Boys II.” Now an LAPD detective, Syd is paired with a new partner, Nancy McKenna (Jessica Alba).

The show was originally developed as an NBC pilot. It moved to Spectrum after NBC passed on it, and was renewed for a second season near the tail-end of the first season. The second season was delayed from a planned June 8 launch amid Black Lives Matter protests in response to George Floyd’s murder, and the season was later released in full on September 9. Though it is a Spectrum Original, the first season is currently airing on Fox, where it is drawing modest ratings, which potentially influenced the Spectrum axing. Ernie Hudson, Duane Martin, Zach Gilford, Ryan McPartlin and Sophie Reynolds starred in the series alongside Union and Alba.
