Hotel Transylvania: Transformania is the #1 Streaming Movie in America this Weekend

The fourth installment of the beloved franchise and Prime Video's first-ever animated, family film also sets viewership records around the world

Hotel Transylvania: Transformania is the #1 streaming movie in America this holiday weekend* and has set global audience records for Prime Video since debuting on the service Friday. The first-ever animated, family franchise release for Prime Video not only performed exceptionally well in the U.S., but has now topped internal charts as the #1 opening movie in Italy, Mexico, Bolivia, Colombia, Peru, Argentina, and Chile.

This weekend’s results for Hotel Transylvania: Transformania follow the success of recent releases Being the Ricardos and The Tender Bar, which had the best debuts of any original movie production on Prime Video and were the best debuts ever of any movie drama release on the service. Additionally, Prime Video dominates the week’s most-watched films* with Being the Ricardos, The Tender Bar, and Hotel Transylvania: Transformania all in the top ten, more than any other streamer.

“The enthusiastic welcome Hotel Transylvania: Transformania received this weekend has gone far above and beyond any of our expectations,” said Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios. “The monstrous premiere of the film is truly a testament to the franchise and the talented filmmakers and cast who brought it to life.”

Added Julie Rapaport, co-head of movies at Amazon Studios: “As we continue to strategically curate our slate, the outstanding performance of “Hotel Transylvania: Transformania”, following the massive success of “Being the Ricardos” and “The Tender Bar”, perfectly illustrates our commitment to expand and elevate the stories we bring to Prime Video. Looking ahead to the rest of the year and beyond, I am thrilled for our global customers to experience this diverse and curated selection of movies from some truly incredible filmmaking voices and talent.”

For the final chapter of the Hotel Transylvania film series, franchise creator Genndy Tartakovsky returns as one of the screenwriters and executive producers. Selena Gomez also serves as an executive producer, while reprising her role as Drac’s daughter, Mavis, alongside Andy Samberg, returning as Johnny. Directed by Derek Drymon and Jennifer Kluska, the film is produced by Alice Dewey Goldstone and executive produced by Tartakovsky, Michelle Murdocca, and Gomez. The story is by Genndy Tartakovsky with a screenplay by Amos Vernon & Nunzio Randazzo and Genndy Tartakovsky. The voice cast includes Selena Gomez, Brian Hull, Jim Gaffigan, Andy Samberg, Kathryn Hahn, Steve Buscemi, Molly Shannon, David Spade, Keegan-Michael Key, Fran Drescher, Brad Abrell and Asher Blinkoff.

Prime Video licensed Hotel Transylvania: Transformania from Sony Pictures Animation. This fourth (and final) installment in the beloved, blockbuster franchise began streaming globally on Prime Video — excluding China — on January 14, 2022.
