Although specific details of the film are yet to emerge, it’s thought that they will be joined by a cast that includes Black Panther‘s Letitia Wright and British star Nonso Anozie.
The project is reportedly directed by Hiro Murai, who was behind the camera for Childish Gambino’s acclaimed This Is America music video earlier this year.
His working relationship with Glover also extends to Atlanta, after he directed several episodes of the highly-regarded US show.
For Rihanna, the role will mark the latest in a string of big screen appearances – after several turns in films including Oceans Eight, Valerian and Battleship.
Meanwhile, it was recently claimed that Rihanna could be working on two new albums that might be released at the end of the year.

A source told Metro: “Rihanna wasn’t happy with how her last album performed – even though she loved how it turned out, she knows she needs a new project full of smash hits to avoid two back-to-back flops…she’s currently recording two albums – one full of chart-friendly songs, and another made up of moody and experimental tracks – and is considering releasing a double disc if she feels the songs won’t mesh well on the same album.”
