Japanese pop sensation f5ve has kicked off 2025 with a bang, dropping an electrifying remix of their latest hit single, “UFO,” featuring avant-garde alt-pop artist Dorian Electra and acclaimed producer Count Baldor. Released via LDH Records, this remix reimagines the intergalactic pop anthem as a pulsating dance track, merging the edgy creativity of its collaborators with f5ve’s signature futuristic style.
The remix is now available to stream on all major platforms.
Transforming “UFO” into a Dancefloor Powerhouse
Originally co-produced by industry heavyweights BloodPop (Lady Gaga, Rina Sawayama), A.G. Cook (Charli XCX, Caroline Polachek), and Nomak, the track “UFO” draws inspiration from Japan’s iconic claw machines, celebrating the adrenaline rush of hitting an arcade jackpot. While the original version radiates intergalactic pop charm, the remix elevates it to new heights.
Alt-pop futurist Dorian Electra delivers a standout verse, bringing their unmistakable style and edgy flair, while Count Baldor adds his signature touch to the production, transforming the song into an exhilarating, bass-heavy anthem. Known for their work with global stars such as Lady Gaga, 100 gecs, and Tove Lo, Electra and Baldor’s contributions further amplify the song’s cosmic appeal.
Speaking about the remix, f5ve shared their excitement:
“We had the honor of having our favorite and respected artists, Dorian Electra and Count Baldor, remix ‘UFO’! They have both been very close friends to us, and their unique worldviews and super cool edgy styles have made this remix an absolute masterpiece!!!”
Dorian Electra added:
“I think f5ve is one of the most exciting groups at the moment, and it was an honor to remix a track worked on by so many of my favorite producers like AG Cook, BloodPop, Nomak, and of course, Count Baldor.”
Count Baldor brought a humorous twist, explaining:
“The UFO remix request was sent to me telepathically. It was as if my body took over and created the remix using Ableton. I called Dorian to discuss, but it wasn’t really my voice talking, if you know what I mean?”
A Music Video That Brings Japanese Culture to Life
To accompany the remix, f5ve also released a visualizer directed by Crystalline Structures Studio, the same creative team behind their original “UFO” music video.
In the original, directed by Charlotte Rutherford (PinkPantheress, Nicki Minaj), the five members of f5ve embody extraterrestrial fashion mavens who abduct Tokyo’s residents and objects using giant arcade claws. These items are collected in tiny capsules, a nod to Japan’s beloved Gashapon machines.
Throughout the video, the group chants “GACHA, GACHA, GACHA… find out!” creating a hypnotic rhythm that perfectly captures the song’s playful yet futuristic vibe. The remix visualizer takes this surreal concept even further, adding kaleidoscopic effects and high-energy visuals that perfectly match the track’s new sonic identity.

The release of the “UFO” remix is just the latest milestone in f5ve’s meteoric rise. Following their quirky single “Lettuce” and high-energy anthem “Underground,” the group has become a mainstay in editorial playlists and global publications such as i-D, NME, and PAPER. Their previous remix EP for “Underground” featured collaborations with major talents like TeddyLoid, DJ Chari, and Doss, showcasing their ability to blend J-pop with cutting-edge global sounds.
With millions of streams, co-signs from superstars like Rosalía, Grimes, and A.G. Cook, and an ever-growing fanbase, f5ve is carving a unique space in the international music scene. Their ability to merge Japanese cultural influences with forward-thinking music and visuals has solidified their reputation as a breakout act to watch.
