A Virginia judge orders the release of DC firefighter Elon Wilson, and overturned his conviction in Fairfax County. The judge said case was built on false representations from the arresting officer.

Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano says the convictions are invalid. Former Fairfax County officer Jonathan Freitag allegedly took the law into his own hands.

More than 400 convictions could be overturned after prosecutors found evidence the arresting cop was racist. Freitag, 25, is accused of making up reasons to pull people over and planting drugs. He was mainly targeting black people.

Freitag resigned from the Fairfax force after he was taken off the streets and placed under investigation. He was hired last year by the Brevard County, Florida, sheriff but fired earlier this month. The county sheriff there, Wayne Ivey, blamed Fairfax police for refusing to disclose Freitag’s history to him.
