Jonshel Alexander From ‘Beasts of the Southern Wild’ Shot and Killed in New Orleans

Former child actress Jonshel Alexander, who appeared in the Oscar-nominated 2012 film Beasts of the Southern Wild has been shot and killed in New Orleans.

According to police, Alexander and an unidentified man were shot multiple times while sitting in a car in the city’s 7th Ward. Alexander was declared dead on the scene by paramedics; her companion survived and was able to drive himself to the hospital.

Police seek assistance locating this man in the killing of Jonshel Alexander in New Orleans. Police said she & a man were shot in a vehicle in the 1500 block of North Claiborne Ave at about 9 pm.
