Jordan Peele Debuts New Trailer of the US Movie

Photo Courtesy of Universal Jordan Peele, after spending years making a name for himself in comedy, wrote and directed Get Out, a horror movie that wound up breaking the box office and earning Peele the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. It was such an intelligent, subversive and frightening motion picture that his follow-up film, the mysterious thriller “Us,” is one of the most anticipated movies of 2019, and has been since the day the production was announced. In a special preview from the Universal studios, Jordan Peele introduced the first trailer for Us, which debuted Christmas Day. Peele described the film as “a labor of love” and clarified, for anyone who was still unsure, that Us is definitely a horror film. Watch the trailer below:
But unlike Get Out, Us is a monster movie… and he claims you haven’t seen this monster before. “I dedicated a lot of myself to create a new horror movie mythology. A new monster,” Peele explained. “I think that monsters and stories about monsters are one of our best ways of getting at deeper truths and facing our fears as a society.” “But it’s also important to note that this movie, unlike Get Out, is not about race. It is instead about something that I feel has become an undeniable truth, and that is the simple fact that we are our own worst enemy,” Peele continued. The trailer for Us features Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke, Shahadi Wright Joseph and Evan Alex as the Wilson family, on vacation, and encountering a new and seemingly demonic force. What looks like a home invasion, not far removed from The Purge or The Strangers, takes an eerie turn when the invaders reveal they look exactly like the Wilsons. This movie has a special message of people fighting their inner demons to survive. It looks like a devil on one shoulder and an angel on another one. Jordan Peele has a way to send a great message in all his cinematic experiences. This film wouldn’t surprise me if we all gain or learn something new about our inner self.
