Jovan Adepo Talks Playing Sidney Palmer In “Babylon”

Damien Chazelle’s latest project is his new film called “Babylon” and this film is like nothing you’ve seen before, nothing like Damien’s other films.

A heavy hitter film with a cast to match: starring  Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie,  Diego Calva, Jean Smart, Jovan Adepo, and Li Jun Li. Set in the 1920s, ‘Baylon” illustrates what life was like in the1920 era, especially in early Hollywood, and expresses what each character faced during that time.

I had the opportunity to sit down and chat with actor Jovan Adepo who plays Sidney Palmer, a trumpeter who gets an opportunity to grace the big screen once silent films transition into talkies and sound. Back then, it was easy for famous jazz singers and musicians like Louis Armstrong, Bessie Smith, Duke Ellington, and Ethel Waters to grace the movie screens while performing their songs.

Jovan opened up about the vigorous training process of learning how to play the trumpet, researching what the times were like for black artists in the early Hollywood era, and embracing the culture of the 1920s.

A fan of the era, the 1920s, and the world of old Hollywood, I enjoyed the film and every element of it! I enjoyed the characters, the wildness, the parties, the mood, and everything that Damien embodied in the film and I cannot wait for you all to see it.

Babylon hits theaters everywhere on December 23rd, 2022
