Julianne Moore Talks Motherhood and How Her Role as Heidi Hansen Mirrors Her Real Life

If you have been a fan of the Musical Dear Evan Hansen since 2015, hearing the news that the film version was coming had to be monumental. If you never seen the show on stage, I guarantee you, you are in for an amazing and emotional experience when the film premieres.

Perfectly said and described by Rotten tomatoes , Dear Evan Hansen is a film bout an “isolated high schooler aching for understanding and belonging amid the chaos and cruelty of the social-media age. “

I had the amazing opportunity to not only watch the film but I also had the chance to speak to the cast. Unfortunately I was not able to see the show on stage but seeing and getting emotionally locked in, I felt like I did not miss a beat.

I had the chance to chat with the legendary actress Julianne Moore who plays Heidi Hansen , mother to Evan Hansen. As a mother in the film, Heidi tries her best to not work hard and provide for her son, she also try to balance work life , mom life and also being there for her child who is an isolated teenager at school.

With so much going on in the world and kids today having to deal with all of the pressure on social media, bullying, mental health and much more : I knew after watching this film so many parents would be able to relate to both Heidi Hansen and Cynthia Murphy .

I was able to ask Julianne if being a mother in real life if she tapped into her real life parenting to bring Heidi’s character parenting skills to life and she said absolutely. She said when the broadway show first came out her kids were teenagers and they related to the show so much. Julianne also talks about providing her children with space and boundaries but also being there when they need you.

I truly believe it does not matter how old you are, anyone can relate to the film and the many characters from the film and broadway show. Its a beautiful message, its real and its very emotional but its something that is needed today!
