Kawhi Leonard denies player option, ‘seriously considering’ re-signing with Raptors

According to Chris Haynes, the 2019 NBA Finals MVP will decline his 2019-20 player option worth $21.3 million to become an unrestricted free agent. Sources tell Haynes that Leonard is “seriously considering” re-signing with the Raptors.

One prime option for Kawhi, remember, is signing a two-year, $70 million deal with Toronto — with a player option in Year 2 — that allows him to run it back with the Raptors for one more year and do this all again next summer.

I get this comes off as a roast, but the point was that almost a year ago to the day Kawhi wasn’t happy about being traded here. Now he’s seriously reconsidering signing up long-term. Amazing job by Masai, the organization, the players, and the city.
