Lizz Truss Resigns

Lizz Truss

Liz Truss resigned as UK Prime Minister, after less than 2 months on the job and financial chaos over her abandoned plan for major tax cuts for the country’s wealthiest.

The UK will see its third PM in a year after the resignation of Liz Truss — she was the shortest-serving PM in history.

A general election may not happen until 2025, meaning the next PM would again be appointed in a leadership vote by the ruling Conservative Party.

Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon called for a general election after PM Liz Truss’ resignation, calling the situation “utter shambles.”

The last 3 British PMs — Truss, Boris Johnson, and Theresa May, were all appointed in leadership contests without general elections.
