Singer Mariah Carey has shared the heartbreaking news of the passing of both her mother and sister. In a statement to People Magazine, Carey revealed that her mother, Patricia, and sister, Alison, died on the same day over the weekend.

“My heart is broken that I’ve lost my mother this past weekend,” Carey said. “Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day.”

The singer expressed gratitude for the time she spent with her mother before her passing. “I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed,” she added.

Carey has asked for privacy during this difficult time. “I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time,” she concluded.
