Lebanese jeweler Mia Khalifa addressed her followers in grief and rage on Tuesday after media outlets reported an Israeli airstrike involving nearly 100 bombings against Beirut and other regions of Lebanon in just ten minutes.

Noted for her consistent pro-Palestinian views, Khalifa used her account to denounce such airstrikes, which, according to her, hit civilian infrastructures.

“I’m heartbroken and frozen over the news today,” Khalifa tweeted. “100 airstrikes in 10 minutes in Beirut. Residential buildings, schools, healthcare facilities, displacement camps, even FUNERALS targeted, and our tax dollars funding this genocide for Israel on top of the ongoing one in Palestine.”

This happened while the peace talks between the United States and Iran were still underway. As Israel asserted, the deal did not apply to any military activity in Lebanon conducted by Hezbollah. The report suggests that numerous deaths and massive devastation have occurred in the central part of Beirut.

While some followers expressed sympathy for the designer, many disagreed with her point of view. For example, one person admitted to feeling pity: “I’m sorry. I know ‘sorry’ won’t change anything nor stop what’s going on, but it’s all just too much, isn’t it?”

Another person expressed a different opinion on the matter: “What have Lebanon done to deserve such airstrikes? If there are terrorists in Lebanon, then this is the issue.” Yet another one refused to agree with Khalifa on her political background.

Mia Khalifa is famous for her Lebanese origins and strong political positions on social media. Therefore, while some people supported her, others criticized her global perception of the situation.
