Michael Smurro, Vice Principal of Neptune Middle School in Monmouth County needs to be nowhere near middle school students.
The New Jersey educator should probably read his own student handbook (page 23) that calls out harassment, intimidation and bullying based on gender identity. While the policy is limited to school property/functions, Mike Smurro is definitely not living up to the standard.
Smurro was caught on camera throwing a beer on a group of bystanders while his wife was going on a transphobic rant that had absolutely nothing to do with her.
The incident occurred at an outdoor dining area at a restaurant in Galloway Township. Smurro wife, Lisa was complaining about a person she said is a transgender woman using the women’s bathroom.
“A man just went into the women’s bathroom, and it’s not right,” she says. “It’s not right. It’s not right. It’s not right. She’s a man. In my bathroom.”
The transphobic couple recognized people were starting to record them when Michael Smurro went up to innocent bystander and chucked beer on them.
Smurro insinuated he wanted to fight the person he threw beer on after saying “Now you can come out. I’m right here,” before the couple walks away.

The Neptune school district said it is looking into the incident and taking it seriously. The school district released a statement on the incident that occurred with one of their Vice Principals in the school district.
“This event is troubling as its perception potentially threatens the social-emotional well-being and climate of belonging that our Neptune School District community represents,” it read. “The actions shown in the video do not reflect our district’s commitment to inclusivity, cooperation, respect, and non-violence.
“The Board of Education and Superintendent will respond to this incident in a manner that is appropriate and relative to the seriousness of the situation and that takes into consideration the impact this incident has had on the reputation of our wonderful district,” it said.
No charges have been filed as of yet for Smurro throwing the beer at the innocent bystander.
