Michelle Li: Korean-American News Anchor Receives Complaints From Viewer For “BEING VERY ASIAN”

A white woman called into the news station to complain that her local news anchor (Michelle Li) was being “very Asian” over dumplings on New Year’s day.

Li reviewed several food items that are eaten to bring in a new year, but Karen wasn’t having any of it. She felt it was inappropriate for a Korean not only to comment on American food traditions, but to also interject “dumpling soup” as her own Korean favorite.
