Ramsey County Sheriff’s Department found the bodies of three children and their mother in Vadnais Lake on July 1st.
The mother who has been identified as 23-year-old Molly Cheng was a tattoo and beauty artist. She reportedly drowned her children and then took her own life after the father of her children committed suicide.
The father of three kids has been identified as Yee Lee, according to his sister Pa Lee, who shared news of her brother’s suicide death on Facebook.
Maplewood police officers received a phone call from Cheng’s relative stating that Molly was going to kill her children and herself. As a result, Maplewood Police issued a statewide alert to “attempt to locate and check the welfare” of Molly Cheng and her children. Law enforcement agencies in the region then began a search and started to track Molly’s cell phone. At approximately 5:45 pm, Officers were able to place Molly’s cell phone in the area of Vadnais-Sucker Lake Park in Vadnais Heights.
Deputies located the vehicle in a parking lot of the park and began searching on foot around 6:03 pm. At approximately 6:23 pm, Deputies were able to locate several pairs of kids’ shoes and the vehicle keys on the east shore of the lake. Deputies, Officers, and Firefighters immediately began an intense search on both lands of water.
At approximately 7:32 pm, Deputies recovered a child from Vadnais Lake and began life-saving measures. Medics declared this child deceased. The Medical Examiner has identified this child as Quadrillion T. Lee, age 4, of Maplewood. His cause of death was determined to be drowning and smothering and his manner of death was a homicide.
On July 2nd at 12:03 am, a second child was located and recovered from Vadnais Lake. This child was declared deceased. The Medical Examiner has identified this child as Phoenix Lee, age 5, of Maplewood. His cause of death was determined to be drowning and his manner of death was a homicide.
At approximately 3:00 am, search and recovery operations were temporarily suspended until daylight. Deputies remained on the scene overnight to secure the park.
At approximately 6:00 am, search and recovery operations resumed.
An adult female believed to be the mother of the three children was located and recovered from Vadnais Lake around 10:39 am. The adult female was declared deceased. The Medical Examiner has identified this person as Molly Cheng, age 23, of Maplewood. Her cause of death was determined to be drowning and her manner of death was suicide.
At approximately 11:00 am, a third child was located and recovered from Vadnais Lake. This child was declared deceased. The Medical Examiner has identified this child as Estella Zoo Siab Lee, age 3, of Maplewood. Her cause of death was determined to be drowning and smothering and her manner of death was a homicide.
Pa Lee is currently receiving backlash after she allegedly shamed her sister-in-law on Facebook Live after her brother committed suicide. Some people believe Molly Cheng was a victim of cyberbullying which drove her to take her life and children’s life.
Maplewood police department is still investigating this family’s tragic deaths.

This is an example of why judging , gossiping about someone or putting them down in front of others on Facebook or anywhere is wrong. Now this mother and her 3 kids are dead and family members should of helped her not condemn her. She was distraught because of her husband’s death and snapped. Whatever each side of the story was or whose fault it was, death is final . It would of been a blessing if this mother’s sister is law would of lifted her up instead of putting her down with ugly words. Now the mother and the 2 kids are dead . What a waste what a Shame!
