Multiple Students Shot, One Dead At Roxborough High School In Philadelphia -

A 14-year-old boy was killed after five gunshots were fired outside RoxboroughHigh School on Tuesday. Philadelphia police said the shooting occurred just before 4:45 p.m.

All five victims were footballers, investigators said. They were shot after walking off the field after a brawl between Roxborough High School, Northeast HighSchool, and Boys Latin Charter School.

Police said a green Ford Explorer stopped and fired several shots at the victim before fleeing the scene. Police are speaking of at least two shooters.

Philadelphia’s first deputy commissioner, John Stanford, said, “The biggest thing is that we have 14-year-olds, like college students, who host a football game at the end of the day.” It’s one of the things we recommend to our children, and he can’t go home. Today we have families – again we won’t take anything from other families – but we have families who will win their son. I can’t go home today, but that’s a big reason.”

A 14-year-old boy was shot once in his left side and later died in hospital. Another 14-year-old boy was shot in the left thigh. According to police, he is an inpatient at the Einstein Medical Center. A 17-year-old boy was shot once in his right arm and three times in his left leg. He is stable at Temple University Hospital.

Police said the condition of the fourth victim is currently unknown.

A fifth victim received grazing treatment at the scene. Stanford’s message to parents is to talk to children about ending gun violence.

“Discuss what that means. Death is final,” Stanford said. “I know a lot of kids see things and watch TV and hear things, but I don’t know how many of them understand that this is the end Death is final. You are not going to come back from this.” No one has been arrested as of yet, according to police.
