Darez Diggs, the brother of NFL star Stefon Diggs, finds himself on the wrong side of the law after an accusation from musician Christopher Blake Griffith was made against him for orchestrating the attack that happened in a downtown Los Angeles apartment building. According to the elevator camera recording the incident, he had called on persons to attack Griffith inside the elevator.

Griffith has since filed a civil lawsuit against Diggs. In the suit, he alleges the attack left him in a state of “pain, suffering, and emotional distress.” Griffith is also seeking compensation for $100,000 in valuables, including one-of-a-kind items, which he says were stolen during the incident.

Taking to his Instagram story, Griffith shared footage of the attack and called out his apartment complex for allegedly allowing the men to loiter in the building for hours prior to the assault. The posts also alleged that NFL player Stefon Diggs acquired some of the stolen items.

It has also brought legal fallout: Darez Diggs pleaded no contest to a felony count of grand theft as part of a plea deal with prosecutors and was sentenced to two years of probation along with 200 hours of community service.

The incident has put the family of Diggs in the limelight, but it also draws attention to security and accountability concerns within residential complexes. It will be interesting to see how both the civil suit and public perceptions develop as this battle unfolds.
