Nearly 40 years after the death of Reggae star, Bob Marley, his family still keeps his legacy alive. Bob Marley has kids and now grandkids who are making him proud with the unique, Reggae flavor that we all grew to love from Marley himself. His granddaughter, Mystic Marley released her debut single, “Sad Girls (Cause Damage)”, earlier last week in tribute to her grandfather.
The single has a Latin-reggae type sound that shows Marley’s true, authentic self as she tries to maneuver in this world as her grandfather would want her to. It is an empowering song for women everywhere because it entails the importance of pushing through your obstacles even when life makes it hard for you to do so. Bob Marley was about spirituality and maintaining peace within yourself and with Mystic Marley’s debut single, she wants to follow her grandfather’s footsteps.
Mystic Marley said in an interview with NBC’s Hoda & Jenna that she feels her grandfather’s presence when she is making music which is what helped bring her latest single to life. Marley is on the rise in the Reggae scene and hopefully we get more empowering songs from this star on the come up.
