Naomi Osaka Eliminated From Olympics Tennis Tournament After Upset Loss To World 42nd Ranked Marketa Vondrousova

Naomi Osaka bowed out of the women’s singles as Czech Republic’s Vondrousova defeated the Japanese second seed 6-1, 6-4 in 68 minutes in the third round of the competition. Vondrousova is the first player through to the women’s singles quarter-finals and awaits the winner of the game between Spain’s Paula Badosa and Argentina’s Nadia Podoroska.

‘I think it’s maybe because I haven’t played in an Olympics before and for the first one to be here was a bit much’: Japan’s great hope for tennis gold Naomi Osaka said after she was beaten in the third round of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics tournament.
