Naomi Osaka beat Jennifer Brady in the women’s final 6-4, 6-3 to lift her second Australian Open title.
This is Osaka’s fourth grand slam triumph overall. Brady, who featured in her first grand slam final, put up a strong fight against Osaka in the first set but was no match for the Japanese star in the second.
“Hopefully I play long enough to play a girl that said I was once her favourite player.” Naomi Osaka during his press conference after winning the Australian Open for a second time.
Osaka also opens up about the reasoning for being so nervous prior to the final.
“You don’t go into a final wanting to be the runner up.”
