NBC nails another great series with a darker and more acute season of The Hunting Party. The network recently unveiled a brand-new trailer for Season 2 of The Hunting Party, and this season looks grittier and more perilous. The series stars Melissa Roxburgh. Season 2 of The Hunting Party airs Thursday, Jan. 8, at 10 p.m. following Law & Order: SVU.
Season 1 introduced a chilling conspiracy theory; Season 2 slams that door wide open.
A Premise That Won’t Play It Safe
“The Hunting Party” follows a small but elite group of investigators led by a renowned FBI profiler named Rebecca “Bex” Henderson. Roxburgh portrays her. Bex and her team comprise no ordinary group of hunters. They track down only those individuals who are dangerous killers.
The surprise twist? Every fugitive has managed to break out of ‘The Pit,’ a secret government installation that doesn’t exist.
Bex and her team have to work extremely hard to try to put a stop to this before more murders occur. The terror doesn’t come solely from those who are perpetrating the crimes. The worst thing about The Pit was that it was more than a prison.
Season 2 continues to fully explore the mystery elements, propelling this series towards being a fully fledged conspiracy thriller.
Melissa Roxburgh Embraces Being Fully Inside The Fire
Roxburgh reprises her role as Bex Henderson, a profiler known for her quick instincts, emotional regulation, and strong feelings about right and wrong. Bex, in this season’s trailer, isn’t chasing only killers. She’s going head-to-head with a system that produces killers.
She begins to face her role more personally and dangerously, with her moral values challenged as secrets about The Pit put everything she knows about law enforcement and justice in jeopardy. Roxburgh again portrays Bex as a thinker who wonders whether the game was fixed from the beginning.
A Guest Star Lineup That Meant Business
NBC filled Season 2 with major guest stars. Every episode could be a potential special. The season will include:
- Eric McCormack
- Finnigan McCormack
- Kelsey Grammer
- Niecy Nash
- Liz Gillies
- Jefferson White
Every one of these actors brings presence, threat, or unpredictability to the proceedings, making The Pit’s escaped killers far more than mere throwaway villains. Season 2 clearly means business.
THE CREATIVE TEAM BEHIND THE CHAOS
The writers’ room remains with producers as this series continues to evolve. JJ Bailey joins again as a co-executive producer and writer with other individuals. Thor Freudenthal continues to be a co-executive producer and director. Michael Jones Morales joins again as a writer and co-executive producer.
Now with support from Universal Television, this series retains a high-end approach, blending procedural and serialized elements.
Season 2 comprises 13 one-hour episodes. This gives season 2 ample time to breathe and expand.
Why Season 2 Feels Like The Real Beginning
In fact, this trailer shows that Season 2 certainly won’t be about reliving old moments. The Hunting Party cuts away the protective layers and dives completely into its true genre, a dangerous action thriller centered on power struggles and secrets.
The killers are frightening. The prison is worse. And the truth always comes with a price tag. The Hunting Party returns this Thursday, Jan. 8, at 10 p.m. ET on NBC, immediately following Law & Order: SVU.
