Netflix has just announced the exciting renewal of the hit-scripted comedy series “The Upshaws” for season 6, signaling an extended journey into the noisy world of the Upshaw family. Production for the upcoming 10-episode season is set to commence next year, promising more laughs and heartwarming moments for fans.

But that’s not all – brace yourselves for the imminent arrival of “The Upshaws Part 5,” featuring six brand new episodes. Scheduled to premiere in Spring 2024, the upcoming installment is bound to deliver the same comedic brilliance that viewers have come to love.

“The Upshaws” revolves around Bennie Upshaw, portrayed by the charismatic Mike Epps. Bennie, a charming and well-intentioned mechanic, finds himself at the helm of a Black working-class family in Indianapolis. Amidst the chaos of everyday life, Bennie strives to step up and care for his family, including his wife Regina (Kim Fields), their two young daughters (Khali Spraggins, Journey Christine), and his firstborn son (Jermelle Simon). The family dynamic becomes even more complex with the addition of Bennie’s teenage son (Diamond Lyons), born from another relationship with Gabrielle Dennis, and the ever-sardonic sister-in-law, played by the incomparable Wanda Sykes.

The narrative unfolds without a predefined roadmap for success, yet the Upshaws are unwavering in their determination to make it work and elevate their lives together. Part 6 promises to continue exploring life’s ups and downs, encompassing new jobs, bigger dreams, health struggles, and major surprises. Through it all, the Upshaws navigate their challenges with the enduring love that binds a family.

Created by Regina Hicks and Wanda Sykes, who also serve as showrunners, “The Upshaws” boasts a stellar ensemble cast led by Mike Epps, Wanda Sykes, Kim Fields, Khali Daniya-Renee Spraggins, Jermelle Simon, and Journey Christine. The executive producers include Regina Hicks, Wanda Sykes, Mike Epps, Page Hurwitz, Niles Kirchner, Annie Levine, and Jon Emerson.

This renewal underscores Netflix’s commitment to providing diverse and engaging content that resonates with audiences. As “The Upshaws” continues its hilarious journey, viewers can anticipate more laughter, heart, and relatable family moments in the upcoming installments.
