Nike pulls Betsy Ross flag sneakers amid Colin Kaepernick’s concerns of its ties to racism

According to The Wall Street Journal, Nike will not put out its Fourth of July flag-themed shoes after speaking with Colin Kaepernick, who sees the 13-star flag as an “offensive symbol because of its connection to an era of slavery.” The Betsy Ross flag has been turned into a symbol of white nationalism and domestic extremism. Conservatives will whine, but Colin Kaepernick was right to speak out and Nike was right to pull the products. Research the Patriot Movement if you want to learn more about what this flag is connected to. Some truly heinous shit. OKC bombing, doctor assassinations, deadly militia standoffs, hate crimes, and that’s just scratching the surface. The Anti-Defamation League, the FBI and the Southern Poverty Law Center all classify these groups the same way. The Washington Post reported a similar thing while the WSJ piece pointed out the NAACP claim that the flag has been “appropriated by some extremist groups oppposed to America’s growing diversity.”
