The Arconia’s podcasting sleuths are packing their trench coats and boarding a flight. Hulu has officially renewed its smash-hit Emmy® winning comedy Only Murders in the Building for a sixth season, and for the first time ever, the beloved trio will be solving crimes outside of New York City. Destination? London. Yes, London will soon be plagued by the most stylish amateur detectives in streaming.

The return was touted in advance of the fifth season finale back on October 28th and makes it certain that there’ll be another 10 episodes full of chaos, intrigue, and meta comedy. This latest news marks a dramatic change of scenery for the show. Up until now, it has been rooted in the offbeat world of Manhattan’s Arconia.

Guest Stars So Good They Deserve Their Own Murder Board

Season five has been a veritable procession of stars, with legends and newcomers packed tightly into the murder board. Series stalwart Meryl Streep returned alongside the irrepressible Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Richard Kind, Nathan Lane, Bobby Cannavale, Renée Zellweger, Logan Lerman, Christoph Waltz, Téa Leoni, Keegan-Michael Key, Beanie Feldstein, Dianne Wiest, and Jermaine Fowler.

Along with Steve Martin, Martin Short, Selena Gomez, and Michael Cyril Creighton, it has an ensemble cast that looks like it should be on the red carpet at an Academy Award show. No surprise that it’s been devoured by critics either. Season five is Certified Fresh at 95% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Puppet Masters Pulling the Murder Strings

The series continues to be in the capable hands of co-creators Steve Martin and John Hoffman (Grace & Frankie, Looking), who head the writing staff. The executive producers include a list of heavy-hitters from the industry: Steve Martin, Martin Short, Selena Gomez, Dan Fogelman, Jess Rosenthal, Ben Smith, and JJ Philbin. The series has remained consistent in delivering a robust mix of comedy and storytelling with such a dream cast.

Murder Across the Pond: Tea, Crumpets, and Corpses

But what does a Season in London look like for Charles, Oliver, and Mabel? Picture Selena Gomez’s Mabel trying to figure out British manners, Martin Short’s Oliver trying to put on a show on the West End, and Steve Martin’s Charles fumbling at a formal tea ritual as a dead body shows up at Buckingham Palace. The possibilities here are as intriguing as they are ridiculous.

The overseas movement also marks a moment of reinvention at the perfectly appropriate moment, promising new mysteries and new, quirky characters while delving deeper into the cult that the three have created around the world.

Certified Fresh, Certified Addictive

Since its launch, Only Murders in the Building has been a phenomenon that combines true-crime fervor with sitcom flair. As it embarks on a new adventure set in London, it finally secures not only a spot as a Hulu Original series but as a comedy that will define the decade on television. Fans can currently stream all available episodes of Only Murders in the Building on Hulu and on Disney+ internationally. Season six begins production soon, with more details to follow, but one thing is certain: the Arconia may be in New York, but murder is officially a global affair.
