President-elect Joe Biden unveiled the details of a $1.9 trillion coronavirus rescue package designed to support households and businesses through the pandemic yesterday.

In one of Joe Biden’s package, he talks about direct payments of $1,400 to most Americans, bringing the total relief to $2,000, including December’s $600 payments.

Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez told The Washington Post that the $1,400 checks proposed by #JoeBiden were not enough, and pushed for a round of $2,000 payments, meaning many Americans would receive $2,600 overall.

Rep. Cori Bush, the Missouri Democrat, tweeted Thursday criticizing Joe Biden’s proposal: “$1,400 ≠ $2,000,” she wrote.

The plan is the first of two major spending initiatives Biden will seek in the first few months of his presidency, according to senior Biden officials.
