Rishi Sunak will most likely become U.K.’s next prime minister after the other candidate withdrew from the position.
The ex-finance minister and his wife have an estimated $824 million fortune, while 14 million people in the U.K. cannot afford regular meals.
Sunak will become the 3rd U.K. prime minister in less than four months after the resignations of Boris Johnson and Liz Truss.
He would be the 4th Prime Minister in a row to retain the title without a general election. The next election won’t take place until 2025.
Rishi Sunak shares an est. $824M fortune with his wife, who dodged paying U.K. taxes on her $13M/year overseas earnings until pressure mounted amid a cost of living crisis.
Their wealth is valued higher than King Charles’ (excluding state assets like jewels and palaces).
