FIFA has selected female referees for the first time in the men’s World Cup’s 92-year history.

Stéphanie Frappart (France), Salima Mukansanga (Rwanda) and Yoshimi Yamashita (Japan) will have the chance to officiate during the 2022 tournament in Qatar.

Rwanda’s Salima Mukansanga will become the first African female Referee to officiate a World Cup match. She is also the first female referee to officiate an AFCON game.

Mukansanga has officiated at the Olympics, FIFA Women’s World Cup, AFCON, AWCON and CAF Women’s Champions League.
